Leopard Prints and Purple Shifts: A New Take on Fall

By Juliana Appenrodt September 23, 2013

Playfully printed and always whimsical, Kate Spade New York has debuted yet another irresistible line for Fall 2013. And now that the new season is officially upon us, we're ready to shed last year's pieces for an autumnal look with a little more pizzazz. Think animal prints in rosy hues and a chic jumpsuit adorned with Fall-ready petals. Luckily, you can find all of this and more at Nordstrom.

We headed to the retailer's virtual racks for a taste of all that Kate Spade has to offer this season. We're loving the brand's fresh two-toned take on the 2 Park Avenue Beau, along with the more traditional Naudia shift in a not-so-classic lilac. We also adore their cheeky iteration on footwear with heels that resemble everything from "night owls" to taxicabs and tuxedoes.

Take a peek at some of our favourites below, then head to Nordstrom.com for the full, spirited selection.

London Fashion Week is coming to an end, but the action hasn't just been on the runways. All it takes is one glance at the street style set, and you're bound to be inspired. The weather might be cloudy, but that hasn't stopped the attendees from adding a little colour to their day. While the NYFW crew was all about pink, our friends across the pond were clearly seeing red. From cool printed sweaters to leather skirts, this autumnal hue was spotted everywhere. Bright red, maroon, burgundy, oxblood — shop our inspired picks.

Bold Colours and Prints Hit the Red Carpet at TIFF 2013

By Juliana Appenrodt September 16, 2013
The Toronto International Film Festival has come and gone, but the amazing ensembles we saw? We have a feeling those will stick around a little while longer (at least in our minds). As we headed back to work today, we couldn't help but daydream about Julia Roberts's red, lacy Dolce & Gabbana number. And it wasn't just the colour that stunned — the flared miniskirt and sleeves made for an incredibly flattering silhouette on the August: Osage County actress.

Olivia Wilde also inspired in a bright yellow halter gown that hit the sweet spot between bold and feminine with enviable precision. Her nude Jimmy Choo pumps and bright pink lips were the perfect complement to a vibrantly simple look. Then, there was Scarlett Johansson's spotted Vivienne Westwood dress. With a sweetheart neckline and asymmetrical hemline, the purple and white polka-dotted frock was easily among the top ensembles at the cinematic gathering.

Rather than continue to reminisce on all of our favourite festival looks (though there are plenty more we could swoon over), we've decided to highlight some of our red carpet-ready picks below — all guided by the daring hues and prints we saw at TIFF. So whether you're headed to a premiere or simply a party, these irresistible dresses promise to provide some major, formal soirée inspiration.

Fall Style Guide: The Trend Breakdown

By Juliana Appenrodt September 05, 2013
As the boots and scarves start to come out for Fall, keep in mind: so does a crop of brand-new trends. Give your go-to look a break and aim for a more of-the-moment ensemble, complete with oversized silhouettes and exotic textures. From shearling to high shine, we're here to share some of our favourite looks from this season's runways.

Thanks to shows by Carven and Stella McCartney, the coat has reached an entirely new level of cozy-chic. Baggy, draped designs — we adore this pink Phillip Lim rendition — are the perfect complement to the high-impact details that can be worn underneath. Whether bejeweled or full of feathers, this Fall's take on embellishments has "bold" written all over it.

Plus, a fresh take on soles, both in the form of stacked heels and wedge booties, is giving us plenty of reasons to forgo last year's footwear. Learn how to translate these trends and more (think camo and 50 shades of blue) from the runway to the everyday with our Autumn-ready picks below.

Fall Style Guide: The Best Investment Pieces

By Juliana Appenrodt September 05, 2013
There's no time quite like Fall when it comes to fashion. For that reason, we fully support stocking up on quality, cool-weather essentials that'll last not only through this Autumn, but many September-through-Novembers to come.

First on our list of the season's must-have pieces is a classic coat with a contemporary twist. Whether it makes its statement via structure or colour (like this stunning Burberry number), the right one will be a chic asset far into the future.

Number two on the list: pumps. For us, red soles are the ultimate investment, be it classic black or nude and patent. When pairing with Louboutin shoes, a leather pencil skirt — we love this one by Isabel Marant — never goes out of style.

Below we've rounded up some of our most coveted, timeless staples for Fall. Pick up one or two and you'll secure a look to last you through the season(s).
